Sprotte Pharma is safeguarding working conditions with mobile cooling
Easy and efficient cooling for a factory hall
Challenge:
High summer temperatures were causing discomfort for staff and jeopardising the stability of temperature‑sensitive products in the packing area.
Solution:
A powerful 18 kW mobile air‑conditioning unit was deployed to provide targeted cooling exactly where it was needed.
Result:
Consistently stable climate conditions in the packing zone, improved working comfort for employees, and reliable protection of product quality.
An AC 15000 cooling unit in the production hall creates comfortable work zones for employees
The production hall at Sprotte Pharma in Saarland, covering approximately 750 m², becomes a challenge in summer: a large skylight strip along the roof ridge allows temperatures beneath the ceiling to rise sharply, with a noticeable impact on the working environment for staff.
Sprotte Pharma GmbH is a German company based in Saarlouis, Saarland, supplying pharmacies across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Their product range includes over-the-counter products, pharmacy accessories, and promotional items, alongside food and wellness goods such as herbs and spices, teas, muesli, beverages, and snacks. With a strong focus on quality and sustainability, they source the majority of their raw materials within Germany.
Initially, three mobile AC 7000 units, each with a cooling capacity of 7 kW, were trialled. However, they proved insufficient for the hall volume of approximately 5,250 m³. Sprotte Pharma subsequently tested a prototype of the more powerful AC 15000 for six weeks, with convincing results.
"The AC 15000 genuinely surprised us. Although on paper it has roughly twice the cooling capacity of the AC 7000, the difference feels considerably greater in practice. Installation was straightforward, with no technical assistance required whatsoever, and the unit runs perfectly," says Jürgen Sprotte, Managing Director of Sprotte Pharma.
The unit was installed at a central point in the production hall and connected to the outdoor unit via the slim water and glycol hose. It delivered targeted cooling precisely where the staff are working. With a cooling capacity of up to 18 kW and an operating range of -5 °C to 47 °C for the outdoor unit and +5 °C to 37 °C for the indoor unit, the AC 15000 is designed for demanding production environments.
A permanently installed air-conditioning system would have been the alternative; however, this would have required extensive structural alterations to the building. The mobile solution is considerably more cost-effective, particularly as the company's own photovoltaic system supplies the electricity needed to run it.
