Air-conditioning is known to be an effective climate control solution and is used in many countries worldwide. But traditional air-conditioning units as we used to know them are no longer the most energy-efficient cooling solution.
The answer lies in evaporative cooling. It can’t single-handedly change the world, but it can provide a more efficient and effective alternative to outdated cooling methods.
Why traditional air-conditioning is no longer number one
Air-conditioning has always had its faults. Poor adjustments or settings can leave temperature changes too drastically low in comparison to outdoor conditions. These sudden changes in the environment can cause colds, throat inflammation, respiratory infections and other issues.
Traditional air-conditioning also absorbs the majority of the humidity in the air, leaving the air dry for those who inhabit these environments. This can increase infections such as rhinitis, bronchitis and even pneumonia.
Adverse health effects aren’t something you might typically associate with air-conditioning, but it’s one of many issues the systems can cause, as well as:

What are the benefits of bio air-conditioning?
#1 Better for the environment
Not only can Biocool’s bio air-conditioning reduce energy consumption by up to 90% (compared to a traditional air-conditioning unit), it’s also an effective cooling technology without the use of pollutant refrigerant gases. The Economiser Control Board (ECB) does not use coolant gases, CFCs or similar. The system is based on the use of natural water for its functioning, which also returns to the atmosphere in steam form. The amount of water consumption the system uses is remarkably lower than other methods of generating a kilowatt, either by nuclear energy, hydraulic or other sources.

Unlike traditional air-conditioning, bio air-conditioning allows doors and windows to be open during its use, and allows for the constant renewal of air, which means fresh air can circulate at all times. This prevents dust, odours, smoke, gases and other pollutants from spreading.
The system also maintains an optimal level of humidity that prevents the environment from drying out, and subsequently avoids some of the adverse health effects such as the alteration of the mucous membranes to respiratory and skin dehydration, eczemas, rhinitis and conjunctivitis, among others. The prevention of abrupt changes in temperature also stops further health issues.
#3 Aligns with your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Global warming is a problem for every individual and business on the planet. Consumers are more emotionally invested in companies that are making positive contributions in the fight against climate change and energy waste.
The Green Paper of the EU or the United Nations Global Compact (principles 7, 8, and 9) are international documents of free membership for companies that want to voluntarily assume the commitment to implementing principles of environmental responsibility, opting, among other measures, for energy efficiency. By introducing or replacing existing systems with bio air-conditioning, people are taking a small but significant step in the right direction.
#4 Cost and energy conscious
The bio air-conditioning unit is highly competitive both in capital and acquisition costs. The amount it costs to install, operate and maintain is much smaller in comparison to traditional air-conditioning unit compressors.
The operational costs of the ECB are similar to those of a fan. Its installation cost is low as it only requires a socket of water and a power energy source – without needing any complementary pipeline.
