Heylo Drain dye
The dyes are suitable for leak detection in drains and sewage systems. They are also excellent for finding leaks in flat roofs, terrace drains and underground garages.
The leak detection dyes red, green, blue and yellow can be detected visually without any aids. They are dissolved in water in the area to be tested and the water course to be examined is thus made visible.
The leak detection dye fluorescein/uranine is most clearly visible under infrared and ultraviolet light.
How to apply: The marking dye is dissolved in water (1 level teaspoon of dye for 10 litres of water). A lower or stronger colour intensity can be changed individually by using more or less dye.
Observe the safety data sheet and adhere to the recommended dosage.

Drain dye FAQs - frequently asked questions and answers
Are the leak detection paints also suitable for turbid water?
Yes. As a rule, leak detection involves wastewater or contaminated water. The application is possible with all colors and also the fluorescein. With fluorescein, however, you also need a UV flashlight. Observe the safety data sheet and always discuss applications with the relevant environmental authority. Applications with drinking water or groundwater discharge could be problematic.
We need to control an underground river course. Are your colors approved for this?
Yes. Our paints are very suitable and approved for leak detection in wastewater. However, contact the relevant environmental authority before use, as it could be that you could color a body of water and then, of course, the office would receive calls from concerned citizens. For this purpose, please present our corresponding safety data sheet. Observe the safety data sheet and always discuss applications with the relevant environmental authority. Applications with drinking water or groundwater discharge could be problematic.
Can your paints be used for flat roof leak detection?
Yes. You would need to subdivide the roof area, seal drains and partially flood sections with the addition of the paints. This will allow you to isolate the leakage. Try this as well with our test fog, which you can push under the roof membrane using a fogger and side channel compactor. If you detect a fog leak here, you have pinpointed the fault. Observe the safety data sheet and always discuss applications with the relevant environmental authority. Applications with drinking water or groundwater discharge could be problematic.
